Hon'ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Radha Mohan Singh visited ICAR- Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar on 02 September 2016 for interaction meeting with officials of Odisha State Department, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, ICAR Institutes / Regional Research Stations and KVKs to discuss about the progress of work done in different sectors of Agriculture. In his address Hon'ble Minister emphasized on synergy between State Agricultural University, ICAR institutes and State departments for increased pace of agricultural development in the region. He also stressed on need for gender neutrality in research organizations as well as promotion of technologies friendly to farm women. He also mentioned the need for more capacity building programmes in the agricultural sector including horticulture, fisheries and animal husbandry for overall improvement of farm productivity and income. During the visit he also planted tree sapling at the institute campus. During the function, Shri B.K. Panda, MLA (Nuapada), Shri S.K.Pattanayak, Secretary Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (GoI), Shri Chhabilendra Roul, Additional Secretary DARE and Secretary ICAR, Prof.Dr.S. Pasupalak, Vice Chancellor, OUAT, Shri Manoj Ahuja, Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment (GoO), Dr. S.K. Chaudhari, ADG (S&WM) ICAR graced the occasion. Commissioners/Directors of State Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Odisha Watershed Mission, Directors of ICAR-NRRI, ICAR-CIWA, ICAR-CIFA, ICAR-ATARI, Heads of CHES, CTCRI, CARI,ICAR-NBPGR and representatives of KVKs participated in the discussion. Earlier, Shri Chhabilendra Roul, Additional Secretary DARE & Secretary ICAR welcomed the Union Minister and guests and Dr. S.K. Ambast, Director, ICAR-IIWM briefed the gathering about ICAR-IIWM and its activities.
