Hon'ble Secretary DARE and Director General ICAR, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra visited ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar on 01 October 2016



Hon'ble Secretary DARE and Director General ICAR, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra visited ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar on 01 October 2016. During the visit, he discussed on ongoing research work and interacted with the scientists of ICAR-IIWM. In his address, Hon'ble Secretary DARE and DG ICAR stressed the need of replicating the cutting edge technologies in the field of Agricultural water management. He also mentioned the need for technology dissemination and upscaling of appropriate technologies in the field of rainfed agriculture, equity in canal water distribution, waste water utilization and waterlogged areas. He also emphasized on importance of water and social science sector for charting policy guidelines which has a scope to find place in high impact journals. He also discussed about the financial progress and administrative issues at the Institute and expressed satisfaction on overall progress of the institute. He also released publications of institute. Further on the eve of commemorating 2nd October, he administered pledge on "Swacchata Abhiyan" programme to the staff members of the Institute and called on Swacchata in a holistic manner so that it really fulfills its objective of taking nation to a newer height. He also took part in making a 'human chain' to inspire all the participants.


Later Hon'ble Secretary DARE & DG ICAR, as Chief Guest, graced the valedictory function of training program on "Water management strategies in watershed development under PMKSY" for PIAs of Directorate of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development, Govt. of Odisha. He addressed the gathering of twenty participants working in different watersheds from nine districts of Odisha. While enquiring about training module of the programme, regarding soil and water conservation measures, and other water management approaches in agriculture, he emphasized the effective implementation of technologies developed for overall benefit of farming community. He also praised the leadership role of ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar for developing model district irrigation plan and capacity building of the stakeholders.
