Three farmer training programmes of one day duration each were conducted in Khuntapingu, Malarpada and Jamuda village of Saharpada block on 23-10-2018, 24-10-2018 and 25-10-2018 respectively, Under Farmer FIRST project. A total of 394 farmers and farm women actively participated in the trainings. Dr. A. Mishra, Dr. P. Nanda, Dr. R.K. Mohanty, Dr. A. Thakur, Dr. D. Sethi along with Dr. S.K. Sahoo and Dr. P.K. Nanda from KVK Keonjhar and Mr. C.R. Sahoo (DD Agriculture), Dr. P.K. Mahanta (Block Veterinary Officer), Dr. Minaketan Panda (Additional Veterinary Officer), Mr. U.C. Mishra (Asst. Agricultural Officer) delivered lectures to farmers on different aspects of agricultural water management to enhance water productivity. Emphasis was given on per drop more crop and doubling farmers' income. Success stories of farmers under Farmer FIRST project were highlighted to encourage fellow farmers to adopt profitable vegetable cultivation. Diseases affecting rice were diagnosed in the training and remedial measures were suggested. Scientists also visited the farmer groups who were given power threshers. Scientists interacted with farmers on the inputs given to farmers under the project and its objective to demonstrate ways to double farmers' income.
