The ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management celebrated 71st Independence Day of India on 15th August 2017 with patriotic fervor and gaiety. The staff of IIWM and family members participated in the celebration. Dr. S.K. Ambast, Director of the Institute, unfurled the national flag which was followed by rendition of national anthem. In his address, Dr. Ambast remembered the sacrifices and self-less services of freedom fighters in making the country Independent. He urged the staff to make rational use of freedom of thought, expression and action to achieve the goal of the organization, and appealed them not to become complacent on the achievements of the past. Rather, 'we should continue working with new enthusiasm to double the farmers' income through new innovations, thereby bringing smile on their face', he added.
Director, ICAR-IIWM gave away prizes to winners of various events that were organized among the staff of IIWM and their kids to mark the occasion. Earlier, the Director and staff of the institute offered floral tributes to the father of nation remembering his contribution to India's freedom struggle.
