Water quality index (WQI) was calculated based on the groundwater quality data of winter, pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon season of the coastal Puri district of Odisha. It was observed that majority of samples were of ‘Excellent’ and ‘Good’ category. However, at some locations, the water quality is poor to unsuitable which can be attributed to high salinity in the water samples. In the pre-monsoon season, maximum 37% samples were of poor to unsuitable category. USSL diagram, Piper diagram, and Gibb’s diagram were drawn based on the water quality data. The analysis showed salinity intrusion in some pockets of the aquifer.
