A study was conducted to evaluate the PM-KUSUM scheme’s role in promoting solar irrigation and ensuring farmers’ energy independence. About 230 farmers from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh were surveyed to assess awareness, adoption, and training. Findings revealed that no educational training or skill training is imparted for adoption of solar irrigation. About 54.5% farmers highly agreed that the scheme was adopted through agriculture department. While 62% farmers agreed on knowing the scheme through extension agents. Despite these challenges, the scheme offers a costeffective and sustainable alternative to diesel and electricity for irrigation.
