A Farmers awareness program on various schemes of Agriculture and allied sector cum Exposure visit program and Live streaming on launching of ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhana Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY)’and ‘Mission for Atmanirbharata in pulses’ along with other schemes by Hon’ble Prime Minister was conducted at ICAR-IIWM on 11th October 2025. Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi Ji inaugurated more than 1100 projects worth more than ?42000 crore for the farmers of the nation in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries and food processing sectors in an event organized in NASC, near Pusa Institute, New Delhi. ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar organized a programme with more than 300 farmers and other stakeholders to watch the Live streaming of the event and listen to Hon’ble Prime Minister. Dr. Krishna Chandra Mohapatra, Hon’ble Minister of Housing and Urban Development and Public Enterprises, Government of Odisha, was the Chief Guest of the function. In his address, Dr. Mahapatra highlighted the programmes of the Centre and the State Government in agriculture sector and discussed the importance of PM-DDKY and Mission for Aatmanirvarta in Pulses for the state of Odisha. He also called upon the participating farmers to pay attention to the efficient and effective natural resource management and adopt scientific water management practices and move towards natural farming in order to make our agriculture sustainable. The Director of the Institute, Dr. Arjamadutta Sarangi, highlighted various water management technologies and govt. policies that the farmers should be aware of and benefit from. He urged the farmers to cooperate and advised for adopting the technologies developed by the Institute and informing fellow farmers. The program was moderated by Dr H.K. Dash, Principal Scientist of ICAR-IIWM. Dr. Sumanta Kumar Mishra, Principal Scientist coordinated the programme and proposed the formal vote of thanks. Subsequently, Dr B.S. Satapthy, Dr S.K. Mishra, Dr O.P Vema discussed about different GoI schemes, enhancing water productivity in pulses and Natural and Organic farming protocols to the farmers.
