Day - 9 -09-11-2025 on celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada by ICAR-IIWM Bhubaneswar

On Day-9 of the celebration, the expert team from the ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management (IIWM) conducted an awareness campaign on “On-going Govt. schemes for tribal community” under the "Janjatiyan Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada 2025" in the TSP-adopted aspirational Phatachanchada village of R.Udayagiri, Gajapati District, Odisha. To encourage the comprehensive development of tribal communities throughout the nation, the Indian government has started a number of central initiatives. During the campaign, several schemes were emphasized. Through the convergence of multiple ministries, the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) was highlighted, which focuses on the holistic development of especially vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) by offering housing, clean water, healthcare, education, and livelihood possibilities. The Pradhan Mantri Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana (PMVKY) was also highlighted, which aims to improve the socio-economic standing of Scheduled Tribes (STs) by providing livelihood, education, health, and infrastructure development programs. These schemes are aimed at tribal settlements, which will be transformed into model communities with better connectivity and access to essential services through the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY). Similarly, for economic empowerment, the Van Dhan Vikas Karyakram was emphasized, which promote value addition and marketing of minor forest produce, while the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) for supplying concessional loans and skill-training support to tribal entrepreneurs. Educational upliftment was also addressed through Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), offering quality residential education to tribal students, and through Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes that reduce dropout rates. The Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) or Scheduled Tribe Component (STC) ensures dedicated budgetary allocation for tribal welfare in all ministries. Together, these schemes aimed at to achieve inclusive growth, socio-economic justice, and sustainable development for India’s tribal population. A total of 99 tribal farmers including 72 women were present to witness the event. They were also briefed about the life history and inspirational story of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
